“You Belong Here” Celebration Pictures
The “You Belong Here” art installation has transformed the Worcester Public Library into a stunning celebration of community and belonging after three long years of planning! Spanning 90 feet across the library’s Salem Street façade, this breathtaking piece by the hugely talented local artist Sharinna Travieso captured the voices, cultures, and stories that make our city so special.
Created through community workshops with local organizations including Girls Inc of Worcester, the Southeast Asian Coalition, BAMSI, and Veterans Inc. and in partnership with Creative Hub Worcester, the installation truly represents the people of Worcester, turning this public space into a canvas for inclusion and connection.
The celebration was an unforgettable experience, filled with live performances, art activities, and the joyful energy of neighbors coming together.
Thank you to everyone who made it happen, including the Downtown Worcester Business Improvement District team and our colleagues at the Worcester Public Library.
Additional thanks to the Commonwealth Places Program created by MassDevelopment, the Greater Worcester Community Foundation, and the Worcester Cultural Coalition for making this artwork come to life, as well as Country Bank, Cornerstone Bank, Far Shot Worcester, and JAM Corporation for sponsoring the celebration.
A special thanks also on the art fabrication and installation by AlphaGraphics who pitched us the idea of the 3D lighting components, truly taking this installation to the next level!
If you haven’t seen it live yet, you need to come down!
